Why the way back is the same path
The map is honest about this. We draw Cabanaconde, San Juan, Sangalle. We do not draw a second trail home. The climb out is the walk you came down.
We publish three days and two nights, April to November. Condors work the morning air above the rim. We will not invent a kilometre count we do not run as a fixed script. The desk writes the days with you.
The months that hold
April to November is the window we publish. Outside it, we say so — we do not force the canyon into a month that will not hold the path.
Arequipa is the start. Give the city a night before the rim. We will not put you on the descent the morning you land.
How this sits with the high country
Colca is the southern walk, from Arequipa. It can follow a Cusco week — Salkantay, Vinicunca, Humantay, or Ausangate — when the journey has room. One plan, written with the desk.
- The city first
Arequipa, then the rim. Not the descent on the day you land.
- Down
Cabanaconde, San Juan, Sangalle. The river is the turn.
- The climb out
The same path back to the rim, then Arequipa. We will not pretend there is another way home.
What to bring, and what to ask
Broken-in walking shoes, layers for a cold rim and a warmer river, rain protection, sunblock, and a day pack. Personal insurance is yours. Transport and the shape of the days are held by the desk once we confirm — nothing is charged before that.
