Why the night on the coast matters
Most long-haul flights into Peru land in Lima. Cusco is a short hop — and a hard one if you walk off a night flight into thin air and try to ride or trek the next morning. We would rather you slept once at sea level: eat properly, drink water, and let the body arrive before the Andes begin.
That first night is not wasted time. Lima is a food city and a museum city. If you have only the evening, we meet you, take you to the hotel, and leave the night quiet. If you have four days, Lima Discovery is the journey we publish: collections, the colonial centre, Barranco, and kitchens that take the table seriously.
If you stay longer than one night
The four-day plan we run is not a coach circuit. Day one is arrival. Day two is the Amano textiles and Huaca Pucllana in Miraflores. Day three is the colonial centre and the Larco Museum. Day four is Barranco — studios, the clifftop, and a last meal before you fly to Cusco or hold another night.

Day 1: Arrival
Land in Lima. We meet you and take you to the hotel — a first night at sea level, time to eat properly, and a quiet evening before the city days begin.

Day 2: Textile arts & pre-Inca remains in Miraflores
The Amano Museum in the morning — coastal textiles that still hold the work of earlier civilisations. Then Huaca Pucllana, the adobe pyramid standing in Miraflores, read at a walking pace rather than a coach stop.

Day 3: Colonial city tour and Larco Museum
The colonial centre first, then the Larco Museum: ceramics, gold, and the garden if the day allows. History without a circuit pace — time to look, not to tick.

Day 4: Immerse yourself in Bohemian Barranco
Barranco for studios, contemporary work, the clifftop, and the kitchens that make Lima a serious food city. Evening departure, or one more night if you ask us to hold it.
Then the high country
From Lima the map we travel is Cusco, Puno, Arequipa, and Madre de Dios. The night on the coast is how the journey should start — not a wasted layover, and not a race. Ask the desk to hold the first night, or the four Discovery days, before the flight to Cusco.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fly straight to Cusco?
You can. We would rather you did not do it off a long-haul night and then ride or walk the next morning. One night in Lima is the softer start we recommend. If you must go straight up, tell the desk — we will not put you on a horse the day you land.
Is one night enough?
Enough to land, eat, and sleep at sea level. Not enough to see Lima. If the city interests you, take the four Discovery days. If the Andes are the point, one quiet night still earns its keep.
Where do we stay?
We meet you on arrival and take you to the hotel we have held. The first night is for rest, not for a circuit. Barranco and the centre wait for the days that follow.
What about food and mist?
Lima’s kitchens are part of the day, not a sidebar. Bring a layer for the evening garúa — the coastal mist — on the clifftop. Comfortable walking shoes for museum and Barranco days.
